Margaret Bowater Park is named after Lady Margaret Bowater, the wife of Sir Eric Vansittart Bowater, who managed the paper mill. The Bowaters donated the land for the construction of the Sir Wilfred Grenfell College in Corner Brook.

This Park is one of the most highly regarded and well used public spaces in the City. The natural water swimming pool is one of the many beautiful features of this signature park.

The freshwater swimming pool adds another dimension to park design. And with proper design and execution these same swimming pools can double as skating rinks in the winter.

Tract’s Development Master plan was to revitalize the Park to reflect current users needs, and to develop the space as a signature attraction. A comprehensive planning process was employed that included public consultations, park programming, building concept, interpretation, signage, phased implementation plan and a maintenance management plan. The redeveloped park includes a stage, free play lawn, upgraded fresh water swimming area, play area, concession and service area and number of two-person poolside loungers. This past summer the City added a splash pad.
