COMPLETED:

Summer 2019

Tract was retained by Killick Capital to design a site for a Luben Bykov sculpture in remembrance of businessman Craig Dobbin. The sculpture represents the swirling blades of a helicopter, paying homage to Dobbin’s notable success in the helicopter business. The installation included: the sculpture set on the side of an embankment at the Outer Battery, a seating wall, planting and information on Mr. Dobbin and his significant accomplishments.

Sculptural form elevates “place” and even smaller installations, such as the Dobbin Memorial, have a lasting positive impact on the quality and enjoyment of neighbourhoods and the City.

Installing this heavy sculpture on a small site, with a severe slope, basically under a street, made significant excavation a hazard. To avoid the challenge screw piles were used as the support for the sculpture, vs a typical concrete foundation.
